This project with Builda Group was a Rear extension, kitchen and bathroom installation. It was a large project on a Victorian Terrace house, where the external back walls were removed and new foundations laid for a kitchen extension. As it is a terrace house, we knew there would be difficulty getting materials through and also removed as there is no side entrance. Builda Group set up the downstairs in a way that all rooms, walls and floors were protected from damage/dust/dirt etc and sealed off upstairs with a zipped door so it was still possible to use upstairs. The project was managed well from the start, with a full project plan provided, milestones highlighted and agreed and retrospective meetings completed when needed. Communication was excellent and we were kept informed of challenges and worked together with the team to find solutions always. A build is never going to be completely straightforward so it’s always helpful when communication is clear! We found their knowledge and advice around construction, pipework, underfloor heating, tiles, doors etc very valuable. The different teams that were involved in excavation, construction, rendering and tiling were very professional and both kitchen and bathroom are finished to a very high standard. I requested Builda Group to build me a custom designed work-from-home office, roughly 5m x 3m. Together we designed a structure that we are both very proud of. An environmentally friendly and sustainable studio space with a green roof, lime plaster interior and Japanese burnt wood cladding using a technique called shō sugi ban. Bespoke features such as reclaimed wooden floorboards, large hardwood barn doors and windows, air purifiers, electronic VELUX skylights and infrared heating panels.
